PETER BALDING
COACH
Peter Balding Jr., from Honolulu, Hawaii, is a seasoned teacher and coach with nearly 40 years of experience mentoring student-athletes at various educational levels, including elementary, secondary, and collegiate.
​
Peter's mission is to empower young athletes and their families by fostering a balance between happiness and achievement, optimizing performance in critical moments, and emphasizing the importance of learning through play.
​
With a track record of leading multiple state championship teams and a deep understanding of educational and athletic development, he is uniquely qualified to inspire and guide youth toward success both on and off the field.
At FITRM, Peter has primarily worked with parents to understand how to best help their
children in their athletic endeavors. The balance between happiness and achievement
for each family is a challenge. Peter embraces the opportunity to help parents and
children succeed in their journey through athletics and life.
ABU MA'AFALA
COACH
Abu was born and raised in Honolulu, HI. He has spent time in Berkeley, CA, South Bend, IN, Louisville, KY, and Wheeling, WV as a football athlete and coach.

Abu’s mission is to inspire young people to pursue excellence in the things they can control, such as their work ethic and attitude, while teaching them to uplift others along the way. Through this dual focus on personal growth and collective leadership, he prepares his athletes not just for success in sports but for meaningful lives as confident and compassionate leaders.

As a former athlete and coach at the highest levels, Abu has firsthand experience navigating the trials, triumphs, and challenges that come with the pursuit of excellence. With a deep understanding of the pressures and opportunities young people face, he is uniquely equipped to guide the next generation in building strong, lasting foundations for success in both sports and life.

With a wealth of experience as a former athlete and coach at the highest levels, Abu is uniquely positioned to align with EFC’s mission of helping Hawai‘i’s youth by using sports as a powerful avenue to develop their mind, body, and spirit, while building strong foundations for lifelong success.


RANDY MORRIS
PRESIDENT & FOUNDER
Randy is a native of Anderson, SC and a graduate of Furman University. As an All American High School basketball player and D1 college athlete, he has had the opportunity to be trained by great coaches and mentors like Hall of Fame great, Bobby Knight.

In 1989, Randy became a resident of Honolulu, HI. His love for sports led him to begin playing beach volleyball and as a result, he along with his partner, Paul McCurdy, formed the Oahu Volleyball Association. As the volleyball community continued to grow, Randy started teaching fitness, pro bono, at Queens Beach in Waikiki twice a week for 15 years.

With the growth in popularity of the beach sessions and an expanded knowledge of the fitness industry, things began to change. In 2006 he survived an emergency heart surgery from an aortic dissection, which then led him to begin another non-profit organization. He was then led to begin another non-profit organization. With the guidance of his long-time business partner, Melissa Lum, they formed The Extreme Fitness Club.

With over 25 years of professional fitness knowledge and experience has come the development of FITRM Academy. Over 60 students and families from the island meet weekly for fitness, mentorship, and small group sessions.
